A city devastated by a flood

São Luiz do Paraitinga (Brazil) is a historic city declared a National Cultural Heritage by UNESCO and is known by traditions like Folia of the Divine and the Marchinhas Carnival . In early 2010 the city suffered from a strong flood of the Rio Paraitinga loosing eight of its historic buildings including the Matriz Church built in the seventeenth century. The Church was the main symbol of the city and collapsed with the strength of the rain.
